When I first met Lauren, I was photographing her and her three younger sisters for a surprise gift for her mom. I was delighted that her mom loved the portrait of her daughters so much that she asked me to photograph Lauren’s senior photos later in the spring. Of all the photography that I do, portraits – especially high school senior portraits – are probably my favorite!
Lauren attends Roosevelt High School in Seattle and will graduate with the class of 2017. She has a bunch of interests that keep her life full of fun activities, from golfing and cheerleading for school, to boating on Lake Washington and hanging out in the sun with her family, friends, and her dog. It’s no surprise that she chose to chase some sunshine and will be attending Santa Clara University in California next year.

We started Lauren’s session at Magnuson Park where we could take advantage of some beautiful light in the green fields…and we ended there because of some unfortunate and humorous circumstances. Read on…
Her makeup looked super natural and her big smile and laugh were all we needed to capture some beautiful images.
However…
…with all of the strutting through and sitting in the grass…
…her allergies started to reallllllly act up!
Lauren’s eyes were getting so red and watery that she could barely keep her eyes open, so we got a few shots in her Santa Clara sweatshirt and a different dress and had to call it a day.
Not to mention that I had an allergic reaction so bad that I got hives and my eyes swelled. And I swear I took allergy meds in advance. SOoOoOoo… not too keen on shooting at Magnuson anymore unless I can wear an astronaut helmet. 😉 But, since things were cut short due to these unforeseen circumstances, we chose a later date to finish up and get some photos with Lauren along the water.
We went to the dock at Westward along Lake Union so we could get some shots with the Seattle skyline in the background and on her family’s boat.
I loved that we were able to shoot in two different locations (and also avoid hey fever threats at the second one, LOL) and capture different aspects of Lauren’s interests and personality.
