I get excited for all of my senior portrait sessions, but this particular shoot had some new elements for me that I really enjoyed. Jack chose to have his photo shoot at his home in Brier, WA, which sits on a large wooded and grassy property. In addition to having photos that show who he is at this time, it’s so special that they’re also taken in a place that means so much to him.
Jack attends Cedar Park Christian School, which is actually having in-person classes, so his senior session was a fun way to kick off his school year and make sure he had his yearbook photo ready to go. Lookin’ classy, right?
No matter what type of style a guy has, you can’t go wrong with a nice button-up and dark jeans or slacks for a classic look that will look great in the yearbook and please Mom! I always recommend at least one outfit like this for my senior guys.
As soon as I heard that Jack wanted photos with his dirt bike and pickup truck on his family’s property, I was so stoked. I’ve mentioned before how I love incorporating props into senior photo shoots, especially when they have to do with hobbies and interests like these!
Jack lovvvves to go dirt biking and travels quite often to courses in Idaho. And, well, what else would he use to haul his bike than this awesome pickup?
It was already getting dark when Jack pulled his truck out for photos, so it was the perfect time to turn the headlights on for special effect! I did actually use off-camera flash for about 95% of his session, too, because I didn’t want to have to battle with green skin tones from light bouncing off the grass and coming through the trees.
I photographed Jack until the bugs came out and a mosquito bite my face – grr! – but it was so worth it! Love all these fun shots that really show Jack’s personality.
