When my baby sister got engaged a couple months ago, my other sister and I were there to help with the proposal, and I took some photos of Tessa and Tyson to capture their excitement and commemorate the moment.
And I told her that night, “other than your wedding day, whatever you want photos for, just tell me and I’ve got you covered.” (I mean, come on, as if she really has a choice of using someone else?!) 😉
So when I got the text that she and Tyson were ready for engagement photos, I couldn’t wait. We’ve been having such beautiful (albeit cold) weather in Seattle, and the sunlight added some magic to their engagement session at the UW Center for Urban Horticulture and University Village.
Here are some of their favorites…enjoy! 🙂
I love the Center for Urban Horticulture any time of year because it’s easy to feel “away” from everything, while being super accessible. The scenery also varies throughout the year, but there’s always SOMEthing beautiful for a background.
I knew that Tessa wanted some photos in a field, so I was delighted that the golden grasses were dry, and the sun backlighting them added a very dreamy and warm feel to their photos.
We traipsed around the park for a bit and then headed to University Village. Now, it’s the holiday season and it was a gorgeous day – we knew it was going to be a zoo there. BUT, Tessa and Tyson’s outfits suited a more polished city feel, and I knew there were some pockets of U Vill with cement stairs, pretty trees, and the like.
PLUS – Tessa lovvvvvves nachos (as does Tyson, by association), and I knew we could get her some there. I am all for finding ways to personalize portrait sessions and incorporate props and elements that represent my clients. VeggieGrill for the vegan nachos win!
It’s been so special being able to photograph this exciting time for my sister and future brother-in-law(!!!), and I had a blast with T+T during their session.
Although I don’t do weddings (often) anymore, I still love couples portraits and engagement sessions. They are so much fun and they are a bonding experience in itself. Having beautiful photos together is the cherry on top!
Love you, Tessa + Tyson! <3
